Vinings Jubilee welcomes another summer filled with live music and fun! Kicking off the 2017 Summer Concert Series this June 3rd with Jazz in June, Vinings Jubilee will also feature Summer Blues in July and a mix of throwbacks from the 60s to now in August. This free event spans the summer inviting the whole family to enjoy a night out in Vinings. Details below and in our press release here.
Saturday, June 3 – Jazz in June, Featuring Myrna Clayton and Jabari Walker
America’s Songbird Myrna Clayton and Jabari Walker kick off this year’s summer concert series in a double feature for Jazz in June. Myrna, greatly influenced by Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin, has performed all across the world and makes her Vinings Jubilee Summer Concert Series debut this year. Atlanta musical icon, Jabari, returns to the stage after rave reviews from last year. Get on your feet and dance along as Myrna opens with her smooth Jazz, then stick around as Jazz crooner, Jabari closes the night with an entertaining set of jazz standards.
Saturday, July 22 – Summer Blues, Featuring Lola
On deck for July at Tower Stage is Lola “Atlanta’s Queen of Blues.” Starting her music career after college as a keyboard player with the late Johnnie Taylor, Lola learned the ins and outs of the music industry while touring across the country. In 1996, after winning a nationwide talent contest on BET, she was signed by Andre Harrell with a Motown recording contract. Lola returns to Vinings Jubilee as a crowd favorite from last year bringing more original songs, high powered keyboards and her deeply soulful, rich and powerful voice.
Saturday August 12 – Rock N’ Roll with The Sidemen
Bringing an amazing summer lineup of music to a close, “The Sidemen” Band joins together some of Atlanta’s finest session musicians for Rock N’ Roll in August. With a rotating cast of seasoned professionals and core members Tim Ussery, Andy Birdsall, Sean McIntyre and Jason Lamarca, The Sideman have toured with local, regional, national and international artists throughout their music career. The Sidemen love to play music they grew up with from the 60s to now.
Don’t forget to mix in some shopping while onsite or grab some of the food and beverages available for purchase at many of the delicious restaurants.
The Saturday night festivities kick off at 4:00 pm and seats are limited so B.Y.O.C. (bring your own chair).
